Remember when Toyota put The Muppets in their 2014 Toyota Highlander to show it has plenty of space, but “no room for boring?” Well, I decided to load the kids into the SUV and take a road trip to College Station to test their theory. With room for seven passengers, we could have brought the dog, some friends, and luggage, but decided to keep things simple.
In 2014, Toyota increased the length of the Highlander by approximately three inches, and increased the width by one half inch. They changed the grille to give it a more aggressive appearance with wraparound headlamps.
The 2015 Toyota Highlander was recognized by Kelley Blue Books’s “15 Best Family Cars of 2015“. The Highlander is available in three powertrain choices, with attractive exterior styling, and a roomy and refined interior. Technology like ‘driver easy speak’ makes it a favorite among families.
Highlander is available in four trims: LE, LE Plus, XLE and Limited. Each will offer both front-wheel (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD). AWD gas models will include standard Dynamic Torque Control. There’s also a Hybrid model, with a V6-powered Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain delivering lower emissions and segment-leading miles-per-gallon for a three-row mid-size SUV.
