The factory race to the top of the ‘tow charts’ continues with RAM setting the pace! Someone once said that horsepower is how fast you can hit a wall, but torque is how far you take the wall with you.
The new 2018 RAM 3500 rolls out with a big 6.7L Cummins under the hood, that has been revamped in conjunction with Cummins! The new configuration adds 30 lb.-ft of torque that puts the power plant at a leading 930 lb.-ft of tree stump pulling torque due to higher boost limits combining with improvements in the fuel delivery system.
“Ram maintains capability leadership by delivering the highest-ever torque rating for a pickup truck and heaviest fifth-wheel trailer towing capacity,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep & Ram Brand, FCA Global.
Add in the newly designed fifth wheel hitch from Ram Engineering, and it is possible to tow a very impressive 30,000 pound load! This translates into customers being able to move away from the Class 4 and 5 trucks. The part number for the new fifth wheel hitch is:
Part Number 892215769
MSRP is at $1,395
The new 2018 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty should be available this month, August 2017, as well as the new hitch.
