LS 500

2020 Lexus LS 500 RWD Luxury Sedan in Manganese Luster

In a recent Facebook post we said to ‘drop the mic and put us on record’ as calling the 2020 Lexus LS 500 Sedan a near perfect collaboration of design, craftsmanship and passionate performance engineering.

With stunning looks, elegant luxury, advanced features and functionality that – oh by the way – delivers refined drive excitement, the LS 500 is a flagship with a very short list of credible peers.

We were, of course, referring to the week we had just spent behind the wheel of a 2020 LS 500 RWD in a stunning Manganese Luster exterior with a rich Black Leather and Art Wood Organic trim interior.

We drive test a lot of vehicles over the course of a year. Many attract local attention while at our home near Lake Travis. Some get more attention than others.  This Lexus LS 500 was one of those.  Parked in our driveway, perfectly positioned for our friends and neighbors to lust after, we found ourselves showing it off to more than just a few admirers during that week.

If RWD is not your ‘thing’, the LS 500 also comes in AWD.  And, if you want more ‘pop’ it also comes as an F Sport, plus there is also a hybrid version.   Any way you want it, the 2020 LS 500 sedan has got it.

Our test RWD LS 500 – with MSRP of $75,480 – came powered by the standard Lexus 418 horsepower Twin Turbo V6 that delivered a hefty 442 lb.-ft. of torque.  It was mated to a paddle shifter equipped 10-speed Direct Shift Automatic with selectable Drive Modes that included a performance-biased Sport + setting plus a Custom setting allowing the driver to set it up ‘their’ way.

Some of the standard exterior elements included Triple-Projector ultra-compact LED Headlamps with Cornering Lamps, LED Daytime Driving Lamps, LED Tail Lamps, Automatic Door Closers, Rain-Sensing Wipers and Hands-Free Power Trunk lid.

Of note was the LS 500 headlight system with cornering lamps.  Out here in the darkness of night in Hill Country Texas – what a difference in they make.

On the inside, standard features include Heated and Ventilated Front Seating, Heated Rear Seating, Dual Zone Climate Control, Power Rear and Rear Side Shades and Intuitive Parking Assist w/Auto Braking.

Another point of note was the generously appointed console storage with a very useful dual driver and/or passenger side opening lid.

Telematics elements included Apple CarPlay compatible Lexus infotainment with SiriusXM, HD Radio, Single Disc CD, Lexus Enform Dynamic Navigation with 12.3-inch tri-zone display, Remote Touchpad, Lexus Enform 4GB Wi-Fi, Destination Assist, Safety Connect plus Smart Watch and Alexa integration and more.

Optional Features

Optional features on our test LS 500 included the Art Wood Organic interior trim accents, heated Wood and Leather Steering Wheel, Adaptive Variable Air Suspension with rapid height adjustment and 20-inch Split Spoke Vapor Chrome Finish Alloy Wheels mounted with 245/45R20 all-season tires,

Other elements were a 24-inch Head Up display, Premium LED Adaptive Headlamps w/Intelligent High Beam Assist, Quilted-Stitch Perforated Semi-Aniline Leather Interior, Panoramic View Monitor, 28-way Power Driver Seat w/Multifunction Massage, Panoramic Dual Glass Roof, Rear Seat Vanity Mirrors, 23-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Audio and a whole lot more.

Safety on the Lexus LS 500 is every bit as ‘top drawer’ as the other elements. Features include Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, the Lexus Safety System + that includes Pre-Collision Alert w/Active Braking, Active Steering Assist, Pedestrian Alert, Blind Spot Monitor, Front Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change and Tracing Assist.

Loaded up with all of these standard and optional features, our test LS 500 delivered in our driveway for $94,075.

There was still more we could have had on this 2020 Lexus LS 500 like the optional AWD or the Executive Package that features 22-way power adjustable rear seats with massaging function and Kiriko Glass interior door trims plus more luxury features.

Lexus L Series Lineup
