Shortly before the Christmas holidays, Volvo sent us a new 2020 Volvo S60 T6 AWD for a weeklong drive test.   We did not make a trip over ‘over the river to grandma’s house’ that week, but we were everywhere else in Hill Country – enjoying the spirit of the season in one fine sport sedan.

The 2020 Volvo S60 presents an understated confidence with its uncluttered styling, efficient power, leading technology, premium convenience and luxury amenities plus safety in this competitive mid-size luxury sedan.

Looking at it any way you like, the Volvo S60 T6 Inscription is a finely equipped, nicely appointed and well-mannered as a luxury sport sedan around town and on the road.

2020 Volvo S60 T6 AWD Inscription as Tested

Our S60 Inscription came in a distinctive Denim Blue Metallic color with Blond Interior seating and running on handsome 19-inch Five-Spoke Black Diamond Alloy Wheels.

The MSRP for our 2020 T6 Inscription AWD was $47,400.  Loading it up with all of the packages and accessories available, Volvo delivered it to us – for our ride/drive test – priced at $58,690.

Powertrain

The S60 Inscription is very well powered by a 2.0L Four-Cylinder Direct Injected turbocharged and supercharged engine that delivers 316 horsepower with 295 ft.-lb. of torque.  Power is effectively distributed to the AWD system through an 8-speed Automatic Transmission with Start/Stop and driver selectable Drive Modes. 

Exterior

Our S60 Inscription was nicely loaded on the outside. Features include Full LED Headlights w/Active Bending Lights, LED Fog lights, unique Inscription Grille with Bright Chrome Bars, Thor’s Hammer DRL’s, headlight pressure washing system, Illuminated Door Handles, Heated Windshield Wiper Blades and Washer Nozzles, Retractable Side Mirrors and Laminated Panoramic Moonroof w/Power Sunshade.

Interior

Loaded with comfort inside, our Inscription featured front sport seats in Blonde Nappa Perforated Leather.  Seats were heated and ventilated, featuring 10-way power adjustment with power side bolsters, power seat cushion extensions and back massage.

The Nappa leather covered rear seating is also heated. Other elements include premium Linear Lime Deco inlays, 4-zone Climate Control with multifilters and humidity sensors, High Level Illumination and more.

Driver Assist/Convenience Technology

There is no lack of driver assist and technology features.  S60 Inscription includes a 12.3-inch Digital Driver Information Display, vivid Graphical Head-up Display with Road Sign Reader, Pilot Assist – Driver Assistance System w/Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Assist Pilot, 360-Surround View Camera and the award winning Sensus Connect system with Navigation Pro.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Infotainment and connectivity features include the Volvo Sensus Connect 9-inch Integrated (Tablet Style) Touchscreen, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth, smartphone integration, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, HD and SiriusXM radio, multiple USB connection points and a 12V power outlet in rear console.

Of special note are the ‘sounds’ of the Bowers and Wilkins 10-channel 1100-Watt 15 – Speaker Premium Sound System with three Room Modes to select from.

Nothing like concert quality sounds while rolling down the road.
