2021 RX 450h F Sport Black Line Special Edition
We were doing a bit of ‘sloshing’ around (yes it rains here) a week or so ago in a new 2021 Lexus RX450h F Sport Hybrid SUV. Not just the F Sport, but a Black Line Special Edition version.
In Nightfall Mica (Lexus/Toyota Blue) with Black Line wheels and trim elements – this F Sport was as you should expect. A well-equipped good looker, delivering a great drive and ride plus plenty of amenities for all including even Tablet Holders on the back of the front sport seats.
A real like for us here in Central Texas were the Triple-Beam Auto-Leveling LED Headlamps with Adaptive Front Lighting and Cornering Lamps. In Hill Country Texas, ‘black hole’ dark nights can present serious challenges to safe driving on the winding two-lane roads. This light system turns night into near day on the road directly ahead and along the shoulders.
When turning, activating the turn signal indicator or the turning of the steering wheel (about a quarter turn) lights the cornering lamps for safe moving onto side roads or into driveways.
And, while on the subject of dark nights and safety, we loved the very bright approach lighting at all four doors – great in a dark parking lot at night.
Also, very helpful was the Intuitive Parking Assist w/Panoramic View. In close quarters – it not only senses (beeps) but also shows on the display where your vehicle is in relation to those adjacent.
As always, the Mark Levinson 15-speaker Premium Sound System with the 12.3-inch Navigation System delivered concert quality sound w/quick and direct routing to destinations.
Last, but not least, this is RX 450h is a HYBRID and no one makes them better than Lexus/Toyota.
The Lexus Hybrid Drive system is anchored by a 3.5L V6 gasoline engine integrated with an Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT). Driving the axles front and rear are a pair of AC650V Electric Motor Generators.
NOTE: Lexus RX450h models are all AWD.
Powerful and fuel efficient (31/28 mpg city/highway 30 mpg combined) – the RX 450h F Sport is quick and nimble and – running on 235/55R20 tires/wheels – exceptionally firm footed.
This F Sport test unit MSRP was – $51,200. Making it a Black Line Special Edition increased the MSRP to $51,885.
With a host of optional packages and features included, our test 2021 RX 450h F Sport Black Line Special Edition delivered to our driveway at $63,105.
