Rolling in on a new set of 20-inch premium polished aluminum wheels for the Titanium Edition, the 2017 Ford Edge is still the solid five passenger midsize CUV you’ve come to know and love. Modern, comfortable and fuel efficient.
The 2017 Ford Edge is offered in four trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport. The SE model includes automatic headlights, dual exhaust tips, rear privacy glass, LED taillights, remote locking, a/c, reclining rear seat backs, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with shift paddles, cruise control, rearview camera, 60/40-split folding seats, 18-inch alloy wheels and a 4.2-inch display screen with a six-speaker sound system, complete with a CD player and USB ports. Ford’s Sync system is also included and features voice recognition, Bluetooth connectivity, and the ability to use apps with voice commands.
The SEL adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, rear parking sensors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather wrapped steering wheel and a nine-speaker audio system with an 8-inch touchscreen.
Step up to the Titanium trim and add 20-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, upgraded interior, ambient lighting, front sport seats, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system with HD radio.
The Sport trim has 21-inch wheels and a turbocharged 2.7 liter V6 engine with a sport-tuned suspension and sporty interior.
Other packages include the Technology package, which comes with ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a panoramic sunroof. On every Ford Edge is an optional rear entertainment system, roof rails or tow package.
Performance & Safety
The 2017 Ford Edge drives much like a car which gives it a very stable and in-control feel. There is minimal body lean around turns and it is both comfortable and enjoyable to drive. A quiet cabin treats passengers to a pleasant ride as well.
Our Edge Sport came equipped with exclusive AWD and a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It packs plenty of punch for when you need it and is a blast to have even when you don’t. EPA estimated mpg is 17/24 city/highway.
Safety features on the Ford Edge include antilock brakes, front knee airbags, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, rearview camera, and traction and stability control. On the cusp of having a teen driver, I love that Ford has “MyKey,” a system in which a parent can set parameters. The primary features of ‘MyKey’ are: 1) The Belt Minder which gives a six-second chime every 30 seconds and mutes the audio system until the teen fastens their seat belts. 2) Top Speed Settings: When activated, the system will not let your teen accelerate more than you let them. 3) Radio Content Screening: Prevents teens from listening to all radio stations that are labeled “explicit” by Sirius Satellite Radio. In addition, the speaker volume is limited up to 45% of the max volume. 4) Earlier Low Fuel Warning: Teen drivers won’t be able to ignore their dwindling fuel, the system provides a warning that lets them they need to fill up sooner than later. Optional equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning as well as forward collision warning.
Pricing for the Ford Edge begins at $29,220. Additional details and specs can be found here or visit your local Ford dealer.
