In most automotive circles, mid-size sedans such as the Genesis G80 would be called ‘luxury’. Genesis prefers to call theirs ‘Executive’. Frankly we see both as appropriate for this vehicle.
The Genesis G80 has undergone some styling changes, enhancements to technology and updated consumer convenience and comfort features for 2025 making it ever more desirable for the discriminating consumer.
The ‘new’ 2025 Genesis G80 is available in five trim levels with two powertrain options (all are AWD) with Prices ranging from MSRP $57,100 to MSRP $77,000
Let’s take a look at the top trim level – theG80 3.5T Sport Prestige AWD.

AS TESTED
Genesis sent us a newG80 3.5T Sport Prestige AWD for drive test in and around Austin, Texas recently.
As it turned into our driveway, we were immediately impressed with its exterior Vatna Gray color accented by black trims and featuring 20-inch five-spoke sport alloy wheels.
What is Vatna Gray you ask? Genesis tell us it is inspired by the volcanic landscapes of Iceland. We have been there – we can see that.
That was only the first look. It got better when we opened the door and a gazed on the bold Sevilla Red / Obsidian two-tone interior with Quilted Nappa Leather seating surfaces.
Then we sat down in the driver seat and pushed the start button. Our impression went to “WOW” as the vibrant 27-inch-wide OLED Instrument Cluster and Infotainment Screen sprang to life.
Our test Genesis G80 3.5T Sport Prestige AWD priced at MSRP $77,000. With a couple of minor accessories and delivery, the “in our garage” price was $78.280.

EXTERIOR
In our view, the 2025 G80 Sport Prestige is a subtle blend of performance sedan and executive sedan. Long and sleek, low and wide with crisply sculpted body lines all around – it exudes an air of confidence being both at the same time.

Some of the notable elements include the new design G-Matrix Patterned 20-inch Sport Alloy Wheels, new front and rear fascias and sculpted twin exhausts.

Of particular note are the Micro Lens Array (MLA) LED Headlights that feature two rows of cubes that dynamically place light to maximize output in low-light areas and minimize glare for oncoming traffic.
Other functional features include Panoramic Sunroof, Hands-Free Smart Trunk Lid, Power Door Closures, Power-folding Outside Mirrors with Genesis Logo Puddle Lamps and more.
POWERTRAIN / MECHANICAL
The G80 3.5T Sport Prestige AWD is a solid performer. A discriminating driving enthusiast should appreciate the measured performance of this ‘executive’ level sedan.
Under the hood is a 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 producing 375 horsepower and 391 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is delivered to the All-Wheel-Drive system by an 8-speed Automatic Transmission featuring column mounted Paddle Shifters.

The Shift-By-Wire system uses an elegant transparent Jewel Finished Rotary Dial mounted on the console. It is very easy to operate with Reverse/Neutral/Drive selected by a twist of the dial and Park selected by pushing the dial down.

The driver can adjust powertrain performance through a Drive Mode Select system by using a console mounted button. Modes include ECO, COMFORT, SPORT, SPORT+ and MYDrive. COMFORT is the default mode.
The G80 3.5T Sport Prestige performance handling systemfeatures 20-inch Sport Alloy Wheels, Electronically Controlled Suspension with Road Preview, Motor-Driven Rack Mounted Steering, High Performance Gas Shocks, Ventilated Disc ABS Brakes with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Integrated Electronic Boost, Rear Wheel Steering and an Electronic-Limited Slip Differential.
Acceleration is reported to be 0-60 mph just under 6 seconds. Fuel economy is rated 16/24/19 mpg City/Highway/Combined.

INTERIOR
Inside our G80 Sport Prestige sedan was roomy, comfortable and very functional in every aspect.
The Driver seat was 16-way power adjustable with side bolsters and cushion extension. The passenger seat was 12-way power adjustable. Both were heated and ventilated. Rear seating was very comfortable as well – 40/20/40 split folding and also heated.

Of note is the ERGO-Motion equipped driver seat with inflatable air pocket system to optimize driver comfort depending on Drive Mode. For example, in Sport or Sport+ mode we noted the inflation of side bolsters.
Other ‘luxury/executive’ features included: Three-zone Climate Control, Carbon Fibre Trims, Heated Console Armrest, Power Rear Sunshade, Manual Rear Side Window Shades, Overhead LED Lighting and more.
INFOTAINMENT / TECHNOLOGY / CONVENIENCE
A console mounted Integrated Rotary Controller manages the Infotainment and Convenience side of the 27-inch-wide OLED Instrument Cluster and Infotainment Screen.

As noted earlier, this OLED screen and supporting software programs are awesome. You can do just about anything you want or need on this system as easily as your personal tablet at home.

I could spend paragraphs on this. Suffice it to say – if you get a chance to test one out – start the car, push HOME on the console and scroll through the menu icons on the screen. Pick one and explore. You will be impressed.
Infotainment features include Bang & Olufsen 18-speaker Premium Audio System with 14-channel digital external amplifier. Also included is wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM and wireless device charging.
Available Genesis Connected Services allow seamless access to a range of advanced safety and convenience technologies from Genesis including a Fingerprint Authentication System that enables the vehicle to be started and operated (and more) without the presence of the key FOB.
Hint: The small unmarked button on the console below and to the left of the rotary controller is the fingerprint reader.
SAFETY
The 2024 Genesis G80 was rated a Top Safety Pick+ by the prestigious Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Given the same platform and features as the ’24 in the 2025, a similar rating can probably be expected.
Genesis continues to be a leader in advanced safety features for their vehicles. Standard on the G80 is: Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping and Lane Following Assist, Forward Attention Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Parking Distance Warning – Forward/Side/Reverse, Safe Exit Assist and Advanced Rear Occupant Alert.

Our G80 3.5T Sport Prestige AWD added a Head-Up Display, LED Display Blind Spot View Monitor, Parking Collision Avoidance Assist – Forward/Side/Reverse, Surround View Monitor and their updated Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 aka “Smaht Pahk”.
