Hyundai IONIQ5 – 2022 Electric Vehicle of Texas

The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) has announced the award winners of the 2022 TAWA Texas Auto Roundup April 24-28 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Held at the legendary Texas Motor Speedway, TAWA members tested a total of 33 vehicles across several categories including a new category – Electric Vehicles (EV). Attending journalists evaluated the vehicles competing on exteriors, interiors, performance, value and overall personal appeal.

Award categories included Family Vehicle of Texas, Performance Vehicle of Texas, Compact Utility (CUV) of Texas and Electric Vehicle of Texas.

2022 Family Vehicle of Texas

The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid was named the Family Vehicle of Texas exemplifying the market appreciation of the minivan as a viable option for families.

2022 Performance Vehicle of TexasThe Performance Vehicle of Texas was the 2022 Lexus LC500.

2022 Electric Vehicle of Texas and 2022 Compact Utility of Texas

The new Hyundai IONIQ5 earned double honors – named the TAWA’s first ever Electric Vehicle of Texas as well as the CUV of Texas.

An additional eight category awards, two feature-based awards and five calculated merit awards were also presented by TAWA’s member journalists.

 

 

In announcing the awards, TAWA President Teia Collier remarked, “The Texas Auto Writers Association thanks and congratulates all automotive members and partners for joining us at this year’s Texas Auto Roundup. We offer a special congratulations to the title and category winners of the 2022 Texas Auto Roundup. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to experience these world-class vehicles at this beautiful facility.  The future of automotive is bright.
