Mazda offering new top tier Signature trim for popular CX-5 SUV

Mazda has had incredible success with their SUV vehicles and – in particular – the CX-5 five passenger model.  Meeting the needs of a wide range of consumers, it has become Mazda’s best-selling vehicle in the U.S. and surpassed 2 million units sold worldwide.

Now for 2019, Mazda takes the CX-5 to another level with a new top-tier Signature trim level that features enhanced premium styling, a refined powertrain with a turbocharged SKYACTIV-2.5T engine and an upgraded chassis with suspension latest technologies including their new G-Vectoring Control Plus.

New Signature Styling

The CX-5 has already benefited from premium features such as leather-trimmed seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated front and rear seats along plus advanced technology and safety features.

With the success of the Signature trim level in the CX-9 SUV flagship and recent addition in the Mazda 6, it was only appropriate to follow suit in the very popular CX-5, says Mazda.

Going beyond the CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve, features for the new 2019 CX-5 Signature include the likes of Caturra Brown Nappa leather seats, genuine layered wood trim and satin chrome accents, 19-inch alloy wheels with Dark Silver finish mounted with P225/55 R19 all-season tires, leather-wrapped steering wheel with unique stitching, ambient interior LED lighting, a black headliner and a frameless rearview mirror.

New Powertrain Performance

For more spirited driving, the Signature trim-level CX-5 models will be powered by their award-winning turbocharged SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine.

First available in the current-generation Mazda CX-9 midsize crossover SUV and most recently adopted in the 2018 Mazda6 sedan, SKYACTIV-G 2.5T produces 310 lb-ft of torque from just 2,000 RPM and 250 horsepower.

Some competitors mate their turbocharged engines to continuously variable automatic transmissions (CVT) that are often slow to power up on acceleration.  Mazda pairs theirs with the Mazda six-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE automatic transmission that uses a locking torque converter feature – through most of its operation – that optimizes the acceleration performance of a turbocharged engine.

For the record, Mazda reports fuel economy is estimated at 22/27 mpg city/highway.

Improved Road Performance

The updated CX-5 Signature is equipped with the Mazda i-Active AWD drive system for optimal drive performance.

Adding increased powertrain performance calls an enhanced suspension along with supporting technology, says Mazda.  According to them, the CX-5 for 2019 meets that challenge too.

To complement the more powerful engine, a new G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) enhances the original G-Vectoring Control technology that made the steering response more precise and consistent using small changes in engine output to shift weight to the front tires whenever the driver turned the wheel. The GVC Plus further improves the steering response as the driver straightens the wheel, by adding a hit of braking to the outside front wheel.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”http://ticket-1994427.inwheeltime.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/2019-mazda-cx-5-signature-19-inch-wheels.jpg” alt=”2019 CX5″ title_text=”2019 CX5″ align=”center” align_tablet=”center” align_last_edited=”on|desktop” _builder_version=”3.23″ animation_style=”fade”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.27.4″ text_font_size=”20px”]

Mazda says that this more precise response of GVC Plus helps prevent the driver from accidentally over-driving the car in high-speed and emergency maneuvers, resulting in better stability for the vehicle, and more confidence for the driver.

In addition, the suspension has also been re-tuned to deliver a smoother ride while the steering geometry has been recalibrated to improve the cornering of the CX-5 for 2019.
