New 2020 Titan pickups debut in truck country – State Fair of Texas

2020 Titan Platinum Reserve Crew Cab 4×4 & 2020 PRO-4X Crew Cab 4×4 at State Fair

Nissan revealed their redesigned 2020 Nissan Titan full-size pickup trucks at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas this past weekend.

Unveiled to the media – featured at the Nissan display in the Truck Zone – are a luxury-level 2020 Titan Platinum Reserve Crew Cab 4×4 and 2020 Titan PRO-4X Crew Cab 4×4.

The 2020 Nissan Titan receives a major refresh with new exterior treatments and interior styling refinements, the most powerful standard V8 engine in its class, a new 9-speed automatic transmission and Nissan Safety Shield 360 technology – standard in all models.

“The annual State Fair of Texas is deep in the heart of truck country – with more than 2 million fairgoers attending each year. What better arena for the world debut of this powerful new 2020 Titan” said Tiago Castro, director, North American Light Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Nissan North America, Inc.

New for 2020

Changes to Titan for the 2020 model year include bold new front end designs highlighted by new aggressive grille and light configurations, a family-oriented interior redesign dominated by a high-resolution Integrated Command Center with an available 9-inch touchscreen with internal Wi-Fi router, and an extensive list of advanced available safety technology – including class-exclusive standard Rear Automatic Braking.

Nissan says their design teams followed a theme they called ‘Powerful Warrior’ in the exterior refresh of the Titan.

New features include the front bumper and three uniquely designed grilles wit interlocking frame and surrounds reflective of the individual models.   Boldly prominent are large LED headlights, ‘double boomerang’ LED daytime running lights and available LED Fog Lights.

New all-LED lighting has been added to the pickup bed, while the rear exterior design includes new LED lights and different tailgate finishers by grade.

Also available is a new Dual Panel Panoramic Moonroof, measuring over three-feet square, the largest in the segment, according to Nissan.

The redesigned Titan interior, combines first-class accommodations – including front and rear ‘Zero Gravity’ seating – with a sense of crafted detailing and premium finishes by grade level.

After taking a quick look (and seat) inside both the Platinum Reserve and PRO-4X models shown at the reveal, we are most impressed by the very much improved interior styling and material usage – especially the PRO-4X  (below).

Endurance 5.6L V8 Powertrain

Every 2020 Titan is powered by a 5.6-liter Endurance V8 Direct Injection gas engine rated at 400 horsepower and 413 lb.-ft. of torque. Nissan says that both horsepower and standard torque ratings are the best in class.

The engine is mated with a new 9-speed automatic transmission with a larger final gear ratio. Compared to the prior 7-speed, the new transmission delivers smoother and faster acceleration says Nissan.

Technology and Infotainment

Significant features include a 7-inch programmable driver information display in the instrument cluster with an 8-inch center stack display standard on all models.  A 9-inch WXGA touchscreen is available along with a new ‘flexible’ smartphone holder and charging system.

All Titans feature Nissan’s next-generation connectivity that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an internal Wi-Fi Router that allows up to six devices to be connected to the internet with (up to) 45 Mbps speed.

One of our favorites – the 12-speaker Fender Premium Audio system – continues to be available.  It features a 485-watts of power, 9-channel amplifier and Panasonic’s Acoustic Motion Control.

Driver Convenience and Safety

The 2020 Titan features standard the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of six advanced driver-assist systems. They include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and class- exclusive Rear Automatic Braking.

Additional features include Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, standard Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Intelligent Around View Monitor.

Other systems include Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Driver Alertness, Traffic Sign Recognition and Nissan’s innovative Rear Door Alert.

All 2020 Titan models are covered by Nissan’s “America’s Best Truck Warranty” – featuring bumper-to-bumper coverage of 5-years/100,000-miles, whichever comes first. The warranty includes basic and powertrain coverage.

2020 Titan Lineup

The 2020 Titan will be offered in King Cab and Crew Cab body configurations and five well- equipped grade levels – S, SV, PRO-4X, SL and Platinum Reserve.

Three new colors are available for 2020.  They are Red Alert, Baja Storm and Cardinal Red Metallic (premium color).

Titan for 2020 is available in a choice of 4×2 or 4×4 drive configurations. Off-road features include Hill Start Assist, Brake-Limited Slip Differential and electronic locking rear differential and – for PRO-4x – Hill Descent Control.

Price and Performance

The 2020 Titans go on sale in early 2020.  Information on performance and pricing will be made available closer to launch.
