As you know, they usually are not headed for the U.S. right away – but may be in the future. Catching our eye was the Nissan LEAF NISMO Concept car, which just might be here in 2019, given the Nissan comments about a future ‘performance Leaf’ when introducing the 2018 Leaf a month ago.

Details on the NISMO Concept version of the new LEAF are a bit sparse but we do see a very sporty NISMO exterior design on the outside. Nissan’s motorsports and in-house tuning division has applied NISMO racing technology to the car’s body, as you can see, that should give an enhanced aerodynamic performance with less lift, without sacrificing the LEAF”s excellent drag coefficient. The black interior features NISMO”s signature red accents, creating an exciting, high-performance feel.

Nissan adds that, on the road, the LEAF NISMO Concept will offer a truly exciting drive. This is thanks to a sport-tuned suspension and high-performance tires, not to mention a custom-tuned computer that delivers instant acceleration at all speeds.

According to the release -the LEAF NISMO Concept combines the environmentally friendly character of an electric car with the exciting driving experience that’s always been a hallmark of the NISMO brand.
We would add – we want one!

2018 Leaf
The next generation production Nissan Leaf features an all new design, more technology and an improved driving range. And, better yet, it is priced at $29,990 – $690 below the current 2017 Leaf starting MSRP.
With a driving range of 150 miles, the new Leaf features revolutionary e-Pedal technology that lets drivers start, accelerate, decelerate and stop simply using the accelerator only. It also features – from the Nissan Intelligent Mobility initiative – the new Nissan ProPILOT Assist advanced single lane driver assistance technology.
There is lots more we are told, but until we drive it – we can’t tell you more.
The new 2018 Nissan Leaf goes on sale in January 2018.
