2018 Nissan Titan XD PRO-4X King Cab 4×4 V8 Turbo Diesel Ride/Drive
Nissan got back into the truck game in 2016 with an all-new Titan – surprising the industry by first introducing a truck that was more than a light duty but not quite a heavy duty. Unique in the pickup truck category – it is in a segment of its own.
They called it the Titan XD. It was not only bigger but also seriously more powerful than a light-duty – powered by an awesome Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel power plant mated to a heavy-duty Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission. Most importantly it was less expensive than a traditional heavy-duty pickup.
The strategy resonated with consumers and the Titan XD sold fairly well. A year or so later a traditional light-duty Titan powered by a new 5.6L V8 gasoline engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission (added also to the XD line), was introduced to considerable acclaim.
Titan XD has continued to offer much of the effortless towing and hauling of the larger, more expensive heavy-duty trucks – including an available maximum towing capacity of 12,160 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 2,080 pounds (when properly equipped) – with fuel-efficiency and affordability closer to a half-ton pickup similarly equipped.
For 2018, the Nissan XD lineup includes Crew Cab, King Cab and Single Cab body styles, two bed lengths and choice of the powerful Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel or the all-new Nissan 5.6-liter Endurance V8 engine with 4×4 or 4×2 drivelines in up to five well-equipped grade levels.
Though the Titan XD has not set the segment on fire, it has developed a core following of serious truck owners who see it for what it is – an every-duty truck that does heavy duty work with light duty efficiency and economy.

Regular Titan Trucks
If the Titan XD is more truck than you want or need, take a look at the slightly smaller half-ton Titan. Powered by the new 5.6L Endurance V8 engine producing 390 horsepower and 394 lb.-ft. torque, the half-ton Titan readily goes head to head with similarly equipped competitor half-tons.

A NOTE ON ROCKPORT/FULTON
They are doing pretty well – considering the severity of that storm, Hurricane Harvey – they are now welcoming visitors (while they rebuild) to enjoy the beaches, fishing and birding along the Coastal Bend area of Texas. There is still much to be done – it will take years and continuing financial support from visitors will be vital to their success.
Give Rockport/Fulton (http://www.rockport-fulton.org/) a look for your travels this summer.
