Styling
As previously stated, the 2019 Grand Cherokee’s last styling refresh was in 2013 but the model’s current appearance has kept up with its competition in the design department. Our test model was equipped with the optional 20-inch platinum aluminum wheels with matching platinum side roof rails. Body-color front and rear fascias and sills helped give the Grand Cherokee the premium look and feel expected in a $67K sport-ute. The 2019 Grand Cherokee Summit features standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on a 8.4 inch touchscreen which includes navigation, satellite radio, Wi-Fi and a 506-watt, 19-speaker stereo (yes, 19!!) And all this with one of the best (if not THE best) infotainment systems in the market. Other manufactures may boast more features, sleeker designs, more bells and whistles, but very few if any offer the absolute simple brilliance of FCA’s U-Connect system. Buttons are minimal, options are just right, menu’s are simple and easy to read and interface intuitiveness are what make U-Connect such a pleasant experience and key asset to FCA’s lineup of vehicles.

Performance
The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee we tested was equipped with the oh-so-potent 5.7-liter HEMI® V8, mated to an 8-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission, delivering a 360HP and 390 lb. ft. of torque. For a sport-ute of almost 5,000 lbs. of curb weight, the Grand Cherokee’s power plant moved its mass with ease. This engine variant compared to the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 not only adds another level of fun but also increases towing capability (though the V6 is probably enough for most consumers’ needs). For drivers who like a little “punch” in their performance, the V8 is just their cup of tea.

The Grand Cherokee rides and feels like a car; it’s top-notch suspension setup gives drivers the confidence of more planted car but with the known capability and agility of a Jeep off-road vehicle. Braking was accurate and gave confidence in the vehicle’s ability to slow down the 360 horses packed under the hood. Fuel economy came in at 14 city, 22 highway and 17 combined.
