“I just bought a used 2013 Hyundai with an automatic transmission. There is a small leak at one of the seals. My question is: where the heck is the dipstick to check the fluid? No where in the manual does it mention checking the fluid level. What gives? ” Thanks Mark.
Mike: Mark, unfortunately, Hyundai is one of the growing group of companies that believe that their transmissions don’t require maintenance. (what a crock) Because of this, they save the expense of adding a dipstick. There is a special bolt you remove to check the level, but it is not easy to get to. It would be best to find a dealer or transmission shop and have them check it for you. If they have to add fluid, it takes a funny fluid injector setup. I think that this is another case of engineers being too smart for their own good. Or could it be these companies want to sell new vehicles?
